Girls in Tech Gibraltar celebrated the renewal of their Platinum Sponsorship with Gaming Innovation Group Inc. (GiG), re-affirming the company’s strong commitment to tackling the complex topics of gender diversity and providing an equal playing field for professionals, regardless of their gender.
Launched in mid 2017, the Girls in Tech Gibraltar chapter has grown from strength to strength by delivering high quality, high impact events and opportunities within its community. The events are aimed at educating, empowering and engaging women in Gibraltar and encouraging the development of their spirit of entrepreneurship and enthusiasm towards STEM fields.
GiG has provided vital support the organisation needs to deliver its roadmap of initiatives, and has also been an engaged, motivated and empowering partner and collaborator in all the events.
“We have worked hard over the past year to raise awareness and provide opportunities for women (and men) to explore, engage, share, communicate and develop within an unbiased, supportive and collaborative platform,” says Peter Mareš, MD of Girls in Tech Gibraltar. “We are very proud to have earned GiG’s renewal of sponsorship for the coming year and, more importantly, to be working with such a committed and determined partner.”
Roberto Rubio, GiG’s MD for Spain and Director of GiG Magic and Tech said: “We’re delighted to announce our second year of platinum sponsorship for Girls In Tech. We believe that the engagement, education and empowerment of girls and women who are passionate about technology is so important. We’re setting the benchmark in our industry and beyond, ensuring equal opportunities for all – we’ll accept nothing less than an atmosphere where everyone can be the best version of themselves, no matter their gender, background or sexual orientation. Having women in tech is so important as not only does it mirror the many users of our products but it also mirrors society – having women representing women is essential to the progress of any company, and ensures differential viewpoints, skill sets and talents. We want the best innovators and disruptors in the industry, and we’ll continue to do everything we can to support women’s career progression in STEM Fields.”
Girls in Tech Gibraltar is soon to deliver its new 2-day bootcamp called ‘Design Thinking’ which is focused on reframing the way people approach and tackle challenges and problems through both convergent and divergent thinking. They will then close the year with the 2018 edition of the successful Hacking for Humanity hackathon series of events.
